The real question is why without the merry (?) stimulation to posts that AMJA et al provided there is a dearth of posts on this forum. The Chiswick people manage many more posts per day (an average of more than 2 pages worth) and even Brentford manages more than Ealing... although most of those seem to be about the Keens. What's up with Ealing that there is nought to write about unless we get riled by rants?

Simply that Ealing is so perfect that we are all blissfully happy and have nothing to complain about? Or alterntively, we are all so depressed, repressed and miserable that we cannot put finger to keyboard?

The baleful influence of AMJA has clearly done some damage to this forum. His aggressive rudeness and prolific posting was very off putting to a lot of people and it is a shame he wasn't got rid of much earlier - a mistake on the part of the moderators. Many people use this site but steer clear of the forum because of its past history.Even though the membership of the Acton site is much smaller than Ealing, the forum on the site is more active. It has a few less than constructive participants but is generally an invaluable source of good local information. This makes up for the news content which is not usually as good as on EalingToday.co.uk. The Acton forum was never plagued by AMJA and so continued to thrive.I do detect signs that this forum is starting to win back the confidence of many people who had abandoned it. The range of posting is much greater than before and although the number may have fallen there was a time when the vast majority were related to AMJA's rants and therefore probably went unread by most people.

It comes and goes: Chiswick is always busy, although they have all gone off to Tuscany now; Acton has blossomed in recent weeks; Ealing was busy but mostly with the postings of two old men telling each other how right they were in their rantings. Maybe some of the old Ealing posters will now venture back ...

Oh dear oh dear Tony, you now have ESP qualities, and as a comparative newcomer can you  tell me what upset you about AMJA's subject matter,only after many hours searching  I cannot find anything that in my opinion would cause such a furore. Perhaps you can enlighten me, please try and be constructive though? After all you are always such a polite person, and it would be a shame to tarnish your hard earned reputation for sincerity, wouldn't it?

The poster to whom you were responding made glib comments /  accusations with no backup facts. The PC walleys of whom there are quite a few on the Forums never manage to answer AMJA's points except by personal abuse. He made the board, let's see who revives it , and how.

Hardly surprising then that with some of the views expressed on here, the BNP now have 2 representatives in Europe.....!!!!!!!! It's come about through the apathy of people just like you.Perhaps that just like Mr T Woods you don't mind gypsies can now DEMAND IMMEDIATE medical attention and 20 minute consultations, let me know if you don't mind being told to wait for an appointment.....?

I believe in the freedom of speech, but unfortunately bad language & insults will put some people off. Now that the offensive posters have been stopped, maybe the people who run Ealing Today should promote the forum on its next newsletter to generate new interest. I would promote it as a tool to share & obtain useful information, rather than a place to have a rant & moan. In my expereince, people visit forums to get answers to questions & quick solutions to problems. If all they see is people moaning, then it's of no use to them.

Brentford?Er..it's between Kew Gardens (World Heritage Site)and the Sultan of Brunei's London pad in Windmill Lane!Blimey....Brentford must be posh!!

Ah yes, Brentford, so long suffering from the odours of the gas works in years gone by (which by the way supplied Ealing and other places) is now..by comparison..a scented rose!!  Agreed ;0)We have our Boston Manor Park thank you, and our posh skyscrapers..we even have our own trunk road direct to Wales via the Severn Bridge!Yet someone in Ealing complains about my inverted map..but that's how we see you..down the bottom!! You say Brentford is not shown on your rail map?. That's good!! We don't need your railways..we have our own thanks very much..and it zips us to Waterloo..that very posh destination close to the South Bank and to Ascot and Windsor!Brentford? We have museums..lots of them..such is our history..better than yours!  We mix with the Duke of Northumberland..and we have a Twickenham postcode..now the world knows about Twickenham!  TW8 if you don't mind!That's where I'm off to.... TW8.com  !!

Darwin Road on the border with Brentford?We used to block the drains so that Ealonians couldn't travel down Windmill Road into our zone!! ;0)  Didn't we do well!

As I live just off Windmill Rd I often avoid using the tube (especially on hot days) and use the Brentford rail link instead. You can get to Putney, Barnes & Clapham Junction which is very handy if you want to change onto other rail links. It's much better than the District or Picadilly lines.

What's the cost of a return to Waterloo on South West trains? I've often been tempted to use it but the tube is (I think) a lot cheaper at £5.40 return.even though it's horrid !

Before 9:30 it is £6.20, after 9:30 it is (I think) about £4.60.  Weekly pass is £26 (or £5.20 a day). But you can only use monthly oyster travel passes not pay as you go

In fact, there are what looks suspiciously like oyster card readers being put in place at Brentford station. They are as yet all covered up so it is not possibe to confirm this...but they are in the right place at the exits...so just maybe south-west trains is about to enter the world of oyster.
