Evening classes

I am totally bored with my job in a large US corporation. It drives me to distraction but like most people, I can't think of leaving in this current climate. To make life bearable and to stretch my mind a bit, I want to start an evening class in September. I'm interested in criminology and history. Any suggestions anyone? Not even sure how to find out what course are available these days. Does anyone know?

Birbeck College used to do excellent courses re criminology. Likewise Morley but if you want to avoid travelling  then watch out and see if there are any shorter course via the W.E.A. Might just be easier to google it for evening classes in London for those subjects. Noticed that most local  evening classes are pretty dire but I'm sure there'll be lots of responses to that statement! Before defending that position, I just mean in terms of how adult education used to offer far ranging subjects that's all!

Workers Educational Association. There is a branch in Ealing and  in other areas as well. Subjects are varied according to member's interests and available tutors. Google it and you'll find out more regarding their origin.

I have been trying to persuade Ealing Council / Ealing Adult Learning to run a beginners course and/or help organize a computer club for new users of high quality stable and secure Unix compatible Free Open Source Software, but until recently the reply has always been NO it is not Microsoft. Now Ealing Council is considering its use within its own IT system things may change. There are plenty of University level courses, but very little help for new users. It is available totally free, but there is no PR budget so very little advertising, although you may have heard of Linux.
