New Cinema to be built for Ealing

With the cinema in Ealing being gutted and rebuilt (keeping the original facade), it's interesting to see the original Pathe News clip on the building of the original cinema (The Forum) on the site in 1934.http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=72614

Great posting! It would be nice if someone recognises a father or grandfather - 75 years later it may be better for a film of the new cinema and Broadway to be in slow motion!

I see no sign of a cinema being built in Ealing. A few months ago I saw the old cinema opposite the Town Hall being 90% demolished - to be followed by the crushing of all the demolished materials into a pyramid of rubble and then.... nothing... no activity...nothing. A similar story applies to the site of a proposed economy hotel, just west of the Town Hall. Demolition months ago and then no activity at all for months. And also at the old TVU sky scraper even further west along the road. A wooden fence was erected round it months ago and then no activity - except for some vandalism round the back of it.It's nice to celebrate our past but shouldn't we be celebrating (or more like crying about) our future?
