elderly care ealing

helphave old ( much adored mum) in Scotland. Want her near. House in scotland not same value as Ealing. How do I get her near me to help her. She cant afford like for like swap, Scotland palace....... here shoe box). Dont know where to find a place must do it now, 89y bit iffy. Any similar experiences much appreciated.

Hi Roz, you want your mother living near you but not actually with you -right? But 89 is a ripe old age to contemplate a move from Scotland to London so your mother's potential ability to adapt must surely be influenced by her present circumstances (eg does she currently live in a remote Highland village or inner city Glasgow?). And would she be losing her own social network by moving south? I too would warn about losing current social network.  If you have lived in an area for a long time everyone else knows you.A friend moved her mother near her sister - her mother had been a headmistress and was well known in the community and was travelling all around the world but since she has moved to a place with a thriving community hasn't joined in anything and it has been very difficult.Luckily I have other family near my own mother and I know that people who know her in the village will ring them up and say something or help my mother if they feel worried about her. I appreciate that this may not be an option for you though but have you tried setting up help for her where she is?

The ideal would be sheltered with a warden on site.(not the ones where they just pop in)Still not sure what is best, just looking in to things.
