Council attempts to suppress criticism on this forum  -  an open message to the Editor

You will see from the recent postings on the current 'Parking ticket at 3am' thread that Councillor Phil Taylor wishes you to suppress and remove some of my criticisms of Council behaviour and wilful inaction  -  indeed he may already have contacted you about it. If you read what I've said in my posts on that thread I trust you will agree that my criticisms are fully justified and that such matters should be fully aired on this Forum without censorship.I hope and trust therefore that you will stand up to this contemptible attempt by this Council admistration to silence complaints and criticism by cheated residents like me. Airing such matters in public is the most important job this website has to do. After all, this Council administration has contrived to progressively choke off any other effective means to make it do its job properly and provide the services it charges us for.

Hello Chris,The legal department of the council tried to have one of my entries removed. It was about the takeover of the gallery at the Arcadia planning meeting by young men in suites who were given tickets which were "manufactured" by persons unknown.The head of legal services failed to contact me directly but he wouldn't have done that would he? It looks so bad when you threaten the people who pay your wages. Also he never found the council ticket tout either. Heads never fell.And the point of this? What you said Chris is important and the council have taken notice and we the punters have taken notice and await the proper remedial action. It seems such a pity that the council sold off the northern end of that school site which could have helped your situation.Arthur

It is also interesting that Phil is someone who uses the web for his own announcements and to be fair does give some answers but is somehow missing when we want him. If you use the web then you have to take the rough with the smooth. I found Chris offensive at one point, but i respect his right to be so. If you enter these forums then you may get offended at times. It's a rough world out there but also without people like Arthur the Public would be in the Dark about Council Dealings. Both Labour and Tories are targets for Residents concerns over the years and if the Council can shove Pravda through my door every month or so then I support Chris's right to post the odd item here. There is a matter of perception that in a meeting people may view the events differently. If according to a Councillor we have completely the wrong impression of events then I suggest that they acknowledge that something is wrong and just deal with it.
