Camera repairs?

Can anyone out there please recommend a small, independent camera repairer? I have a digital compact i bought about six months ago that's developed a mechanical problem, which can be fixed, but the quote at a big high street chain for the repair was far more than the original purchase price..

Try Chiswick Camera Centre: http://www.chiswickcameras.co.uk/Not used them for 10+ years or for anything digital but they're independent and small and were reliable enough when I did use them. They're about a minute from Chiswick Park tube station.

Most places will try to get a sale from you instead of a repair, its a lot less bother for them and is the world we live in.If you've only had it 6 months is it not under warrenty?G

no, 60 days. it was 2nd hand.
