Have your say on policing in London

http://www.mpa.gov.uk/publications/policingplans/Is where you can complete a questionnaire about your views by end November. In the any other comments section you may wish to support Councillor Stacey's unrequited request to Boris for dozens of new police in the borough.Did I miss this, or did Phil Tayor omit to bring this consultation process to our attention under the Council's strategic mission statement to give us safer streets???? The police are struggling to meet crime reduction targets.We have 7 Town centres in the borough. It would be interesting to know how many police are out there 24/7 roving around each of these conurbations at any one time.

Thanks George, I'll fill in the Police survey today.You didn't miss it - Councillor Taylor didn't bring it to our attention.However, maybe he's actually studied the crime figures: Crime in the UK has been falling steadilly since 1995. Burglary is down 58%, car crime down 61% and violence down 48%. Admittedly UK crime levels are higher than most European countries with only Ireland, Estonia and Denmark matching our high levels.Fear of crime is high in the UK and tabloid newspapers' delight in featuring crime doesn't help. And neither does the UK's obsessions with CCTV and gated communities.Although Denmark has similar levels of crime to the UK the country consistently tops the happiest country in the world surveys. Happiness closely correlates with low levels of fear of crime.Funny thing that...
