Bollo Lane/Gunnersbury Lane junction changes

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. The lights have been replaced with a mini roundabout.Northbound from Bollo Lane is now only single lane (no righthand turn lane now to ease the queue). The lights controlled pedestrian crossing (Bollo Lane to the tube station) is now a "normal" crossing, where traffic has to constantly give way....ie  morning rush hour is going to be carnage for traffic movement and potentially dangerous for pedestrians.Obviously some bright spark thinks that is going to improve the junction.........in fact all that was ever needed was northbound traffic to have a left hand filter when the righthand filter from Gunnersbury to Bollo was operating.

But it's a massive improvement, Nick! All the tailbacks are gone. I drove to Acton in minutes this morning instead of the usual seething queue back past the North Circular.

Thats good to hear Susan....without lights, I think traffic will move quicker outside peak times....its wasn't good at 8.30 this morning.In the morning rush hour there is a constant stream of pedestrians crossing the Bollo road to the tube....if traffic has to give way all the time ,...thats when the fun will start!

It would be a good idea to replace the zebra crossing with a light-controlled one to give everyone a fair turn.

I came through these lights roundabout oops I've alreadymade the mistake in the dark and the wet and failed to see the unilluminated warning signs. Luckily I was going slowly so no harm. But it did take a few moments to  work out what was happening. Obviously the warning signs are designed only for the daytime driver us night owls can look after ourselves.

Surprised about this lights to roundabout change here.This was supposedly one of the 5 sites where according to Council Officer Noel Rutherford Ealing 'would lead the way with the removal of traffic lights'. However subsequently we were told that this 5 junction traffic lights turnoff trial had been abandonned.So...can we now expect the traffic lights to be removed at the Twyford Avenue/Creffield Road junction?

Those lights have been there forever, surely, whereas the ones at Acton Town were installed fairly recently and contributed greatly to traffic congestion.
