What's Happened to the Season of Goodwill?

Please correct me if I am wrong - are we or are we not, about to celebrate Christmas? The time when all people regardless of beliefs, put their animosity behind and treat their fellow human beings with respect and kindness?All I've seen over the last few days is constant bickering and backbiting. Give it a rest, please.

I think for a lot of people it is not a time to celebrate, illness, suffering and death.  Some people miss their loved ones at this time of year, and I guess they can be angry with others who appear to be enjoying themselves. The day is almost here, don't let them spoil your Christmas.  I have just returned from church with my Grandchild, and I am going to enjoy Christmas, we never know what is around the corner.  Have a wonderful Christmas..

My girlfriend died in May and she loved Christmas and the various Children's faces and enjoyment. I spent the day with her brother and his family and we had a lovely day. If you really loved someone then you want to see people enjoying the time. She would take pleasure from others enjoyment. The angry ones are those that do not know why they are doing things. They are shopping for shopping sake rather than trying to bring joy to someone. Went to 4 Carols services plus Christmas Day church. For me I miss her so much but also I know that I can get great pleasure from others happiness just like she did. If people are bitter then they perhaps are feeling sorry for themselves. Christmas has become an ordeal in which families are plunged into debt to by their teenager the latest gadget/fashion that will be forgotten in a month. We live in an iWorld where it is all about me(I am in my pod so clear off). We should live in a WiiWorld where we share our enjoyment. So perhaps this recession may make people think about what is really important in their lives, but then again maybe not. The RBS Bankers will not have enjoyed Christmas as they just do not understand as they live in an iBank World.anyway have a Happy New Year and just smile as someone may smile back and make your day!!Peter

Sadly the true meaning of Christmas seems lost in the rush to buy the latest gadget or to show off to ones friends just how much they spent on food and gifts.This year my husband and I just spent a quiet Christmas together happy in the knowledge that he was allowed home from hospital, although he still has many hurdles to cross.He made a card for me, it was really special because he was unable to get out to the shops. Little things mean a lot.Be thankful if you can spend Christmas with loved ones but spare a thought for those who may be alone, or for our soldiers far, far from home.

Jean you know the essence of it all. enjoy those that you love and those that love you. it is the main reason we can enjoy life. Kathy was with us because we enjoyed each others company. we are blessed by many things in like the ones we love and gadgets are just passing fads.
