Impatience of Car Users

I haad to use my car yesterday afternoon and was amazed by the amount of fellow drivers using their horns at other drivers. The conditions weren't fantastic - snow was falling, visibility was slightly impaired etc. The last time I heard this many horns I was stuck in a traffic jam, yet here the traffic was moving albeit slightly slower than normal.

I was down Osterly Park yesterday at dawn. It was -3 and extreme deap frost everywhere. Most cars and buses passing along the M4 were hitting speeds well into 70+.

"Most cars and buses passing along the M4 were hitting speeds well into 70+."Were the matrix signs showing a lower advisory speed?  If not, then it's reasonable for drivers to drive at normal speeds.  Major motorways are reliably salted to keep them free of ice.  If the signs advise, say 50 mph, then drivers respond by reducing speed to ... er ... 65 or so. I doubt if you could tell the difference between 65 and 75 from the Park.

The park is 20-30 feet from the tarmac, and you are right there is a fixed national speed limit sign there. Driving at the normal 70+ speeds that they were doing in those slushy frozen conditions still made them idiots trying to kill someone.

Hmm, not necessarily if the motorway was clear. Was it clear?Having said that there are people travelling at speed down my road which has two tyre tracks of clear (ish) road, but they are certainly not considering what will happen if they have to go off course onto the ice and apply their brakes (or indeed what will happen if they apply their brakes and do go stray off the clear bits)...
