Retsina and Moussaka - Uxbridge Road

I have been to this Greek/Cypriot restaurant a few of times and have to say I have not been disappointed yet. The food is delicious, staff friendly and cost very reasonable. Only thing I have to say to those of you who are thinking of going, don't eat a lot during the day as the portions are more than generous!

It's one of those places that I walk past thinking I wish they would sort out their decor! Signage awful and all those plants, so it's nice to see a good review for their food if not the style of their decor...

Have to say Diane, there is nothing wrong with their decor, it is homely and gives the customer a welcoming feeling. It's nice to go and eat somewhere that isn't fussy, but just concentrates on the important things - food, service and cost. I sometimes think that in some restaurants you are paying for the decor as well as the food.

To enjoy Greek food you have to be in slightly chaotic surroundings. No offence intended. Just that the free spirited folk are a lot of fun!! You could not enjoy Greek food in a Habitat styled Palace.

To enjoy Greek food you have to be in slightly chaotic surroundings---------------------------Or simply go to Retsina and Moussaka?Second thoughts, if everyone else is in there, I'll never get a table.  So don't go, the food is terrible, the service slow and prices high.  And someone else says the signage and outside plants are awful.

I am indeed a shallow person as far as restaurants go - they need to suit a particular look and be great food too, but I do get the point about not judging a book by its cover. I like Greek food so if I get a chance on a rare night out will give this one a go.

Well if you do like Greek food, please go there, you will love the food and perhaps in future you should try not to be fussy about the appearances of places. It is sometimes the unkempt outside look of a restaurant that hides a fantastic menu and food, not to say service and cost. I have been to a few places that look fantastic on the outside and in and the food has been unpalatable, service dreadful and the cost high.

Retsina & Moussaka is one of my favourite restaurants in Ealing. It serves good food with big portions, has excelent service & good wine

If anyone has gone to a traditional Greek taverna, they will know that it is the food that counts. I have no problem about the signage or plants, in fact I think they add to the whole atmosphere of this fantastic restaurant. Seems to me that some people need to re evaulate their priorities.
