Old Photos of Ealing

Having lived in Ealing my whole life I feel I don’t know all that much about its history. I did a quick google search and found a few websites with pictures of the Uxbridge road, the station, Pitshanger manor and a few of the common. What I was really hoping for were a few of St Marys road near to TVU, where I study or some from down towards Northfields and Hanwell.Any pictures would be appreciatedThanks Stephen

There's at least a couple of good cheap books of Ealing old photos with some very good shots in a national coverage series (Britain on old photographs or some such) that cover the subject very well, and are still in print. Others may know the full titles etc -  I'd have to fish my copies out of deep storage.

There should be some photos in the local history section at the central library.  The staff there are very helpful, so well worth a visit.  Otherwise, the books Chris was talking about include 'Ealing and Hanwell Past' by Peter Hounsell published by Historical Publications and 'Images of London: Ealing' by John Rogers and Reg Eden published by Tempus.  I'm sure you'll find these and more in the central library.

A little boys war has some photos.  There is also a book in the central library, can't remember its name, but there is a small section on local history in there too.

I believe there is also a small book called 'South Ealing and Northfields'.  The Northfields library have got a copy.

If you go to the Central Library and ask to speak to Dr Jonathan Oates, the Borough Archivist - he is always very helpful.
