Council tax decision 2010 2011

will be made 9 March by Ealing council. For a D Band property I don't mind paying an extra £8-54 per annum or less than 1%.Do you and if so why?

I agree. I'd pay more.We are going to have to pay more anyway. Official National Debt is £848.5 billion (59.9 of GDP) and unofficially our National Debt is £1,340 billion (103.5% of GDP). The country's annual government borrowings are £178 billion. No-one else is going to pay off this debt other than UK tax payers.It's almost impossible for savers like me to gain any interest on our life's savings so we might as well pay some of it to the Council.Hopefully the new May 2010 Council will not repeat silly things like trying to give the cash back to me as part of a £6.1 million 'Cash Back' bribe and spending £millions tarting up parks with boulders, and shopping parades with more raised flower beds, more hanging baskets and expensive flagstones.

Tomorrow the Tories will be boasting about keeping the council tax rise to zero.Little will be said about the decent homes repairs project for social housing slippage.Little will be said about the waiting times for an assessment by Social Services not meeting targets.The Tories won’t care about the vulnerable who do not know how to fight for what is due. They know that only 86% percent of Ealing people cannot name any of their three Councillors.

Eric,I totally agree your comments about the Tory £50 bribe at the expense of £6 million from the Social Services budget. The money did not even filter into the local economy as the Tory Council had boasted. Beneficiaries of this bribe could get sell their voucher at a post office and spend it anywhere.

The impression given is that we should all have spent the refund in east-european delis.Is Socialism's next step to tell us where to spend our money? Just about everything else in this country is getting controlled so why not that?

Alan, your post makes no sense to me.Nobody told us how to spend the money.But inducements shortly before a national and local election stinks. They say every man has his price. Are you worth just £50? I suspect not. How would £5000 per day suit you?
