Did Transport Police get Ticketed or Clamped?.....
.......of course not.Interesting to see the British Transport Police at Ealing Broadway Station last friday.No less than 7 police vehicles- all in the forecourt bays for nearly 2 hours. Dogs, batons, the lot!The station was overrun with them, presumably with good reason, although it was rather unnerving as it made one feel that one was walking into some sort of major incident.If I have one criticism it was the rather evident lack of humour or civility. It was as though the public are the enemy. Sadly the female officers were the most surly and humourless of the lot with a real lack of communication skills.Quite what gets done to these people during training makes one wonder sometimes. After all, are they not also the public off duty?Anyway, ranting over! Having had a meeting followed by another 40 min wait for a 65, I did observe that not one Police vehicle received either a ticket or a clamp on what is private property.No clampers to be seen (who are always there on friday afternoons) either.Also worth noting; The tickets they issue have no legal mandate, only those issued by the police or local authorities are bound by law to be payable.The simplest solution here would be for this forecourt to be compulsory purchased by either LBE or TfL, the boundary wall removed and a small 2 aisle through bus station placed in with a car drop off point, the inner serving the 112 & 83 and The outer the 65, E2 & E8 all of which can just fit in and leave enough space for the through traffic to flow.A simple remodelling could incorporate a better transport interchange as well as better, more secure cycle parking.I draughted a scheme design from laser measurements but how to post it is proving elusive.
