Am I a bigoted parliamentary candidate - according to Gordon Brown?

I was born in Uganda, yet I am campaigning to tackle the causes of asylum (arms trade, poverty and civil wars etc) as a long term solution to the problem.  Mr Brown has today called Mr Duffy a "bigoted" woman for questioning Labour's immigration policy based on the so-called point-system.  If so, like Mrs Duffy, I must be bigoted too.  I very much suspect many people in Ealing and Acton will think differently on 6th May.

The points system only applies to people outside the EU.We have no control over EU immmigration, it is an open door policy for member states! We can go where we want in Europe and Europe can come here unrestricted. That's the trade off.Eastern Europeans, which Mrs Duffy refferred to, are not subject to immigration controls.The points system applies to the rest of the world, and it does not effect Asylum seekers. Asylum is a very different matter. Uncontrolled EU immigration is the issue or not as the case may be.

I don't care, I won't be voting for you anyway. It's "Mrs Duffy" by the way, she's female. This Brown "gaffe" is a storm in a demi tasse. I don't know if Mrs Duffy is a bigot, she certainly sounded ignorant, I could not care less that Gordon Brown said what he said. However, the Daily Mail make it out to be the same as a nuclear bomb on the party and proof of his evil machinations, nothing new there.

Ash, I am sorry for inadvertently getting Mrs Duffy’s title wrong, but I suspect it would upset her less than being called a “bigoted” woman”. You may “care less that Gordon Brown said what he said”, but he took it so seriously that he spent over 30 minutes apologising to Mrs Duffy. To put it in context, he had spent less than half that time meeting the Queen to dissolve parliament, with president Obama in the White House and signing the Lisbon Treaty.  That may say a lot to many people, even non-Daily Mail readers.  Best wishes

Thank you DarrenPlease persuade your friends and contacts to vote for me.  Together we cam make a real change for our communities. If I was in this for personal glory, I would have willingly accepted the invitations by Labour, Conservatives and Libdems to be their Parliamentary candidate. Given their massive funding and political network,  I could have easily won and become a junior minister. However, I refused because I did not want to be used as window dressing.  Yes, in her resignation letter last summer, the former Minister for Europe Caroline flint said Gordon Brown used women for window dressing!  If they can use a white middle class woman for window dressing, what would they do for a black man?Mr Brown’s insulting comments about Mrs Duffy, a long time labour voter who had asked a legitimate question confirmed to me that he also uses the voters for his own selfish political ambition. We need an independent candidate with no ambition for political office to represent Ealing and Acton, and work to improve our communities. I am willing and ready to take that task, having spent more than ten years until last month working as a Parliamentary officer.  In effect, I was an Apprentice MP!If my father risked his life and fought for this country during the Second World War as part of the King’s African Rifles (KAR), why can’t I follow that family tradition of selfless service for the great people of this country?

I'm begnning to like you (or more importantly what you reckon you'll seek to do), and despite some misgivings may yet vote for you on the Anybody but Jon Ball' ticket. But I'll still take some convincing not to vote instead for your rival 'None of the Above'.

You vote for people? Not policies? Is it true your only real issue with Jon Ball is about a parking spot by your house? Or did you want a bigger house on Gunnersbury Park, or something like that perhaps?

I consider both policies and the candidate as a person - that's the intelligent way to consider who - if anybody  -  is worth voting for. It's the 'donkey voters' who only consider party label and/or party policies that let the main parties get away with keeping their stranglehold on us and foisting any old rubbish candidates on us  -  as in this case.And who's told you all that silly nonsense about a parking spot and a bigger house on Bunnersbury Park? -  Jon Ball? Do grow up.
