New Sauna on Boston Road

The question is ...... is this a sauna .....or a "sauna"   I would hate to get into an embarrassing situation!

One of our PCSOs was formerly in active military service and so should know a thing or two about covert operations.Has anyone seen a PCSO in the High street to ask what action is being taken?I am also wondering whether our editor has made any enquiries.

Have you ever thought that instead of thinking that this new sauna is a den of iniquity it could just be a sauna?

We had the same problem when we opened Thai Touch massaage in Acton. We'd get requests for extras...and they'd get shown the door. Unfortunately its how we Brits regard 'sauna' and 'Thai massage' (nudge-nudge wink-wink).

I'd never thought of sauna in that way before - massage yes as there are so many adverts in the local papers etc.

Annemarie (the editor)asked me to investigate but it has been closed all weekend so I haven't had the opportunity to meet the owners and put people's minds at rest about the nature of this new business. There is a sign in the door for the Guild of Holistic Therapists. I looked this up on the internet and I found www.beautyguild.com which claims "Today's beauty salon clients expect the best. When they visit your salon, they want to be advised and treated by fully trained and qualified therapists. Membership of The Guild of Holistic Therapists shows them that you are a true Holistic Professional." However, the new "Hanwell Sauna" is not in their list of salons - although this could possibly be because it is too new and hasn't registered yet.

The site looks legit but the establishments use of the logo may not be - have you tried e-mailing the guild to check these people are members?

Council officers have been to investigate and this is their response-This is a new business which has opened up to give massages and saunas to the general public.  An officer inspected the premises on 15 April 2010.  The officer was responding to an application to be licenced to give massages and special treatments, under the Local Authorities Act 1991.The premises was inspected and found to be in compliance with the legislation. Within the licence conditions there is a clause which states that;" the duty manager shall ensure that no part of the premises is used by persons, for the soliciting or other immoral purposes".  If there is evidence that this is the case then we could prosecute the owners for being in breach of their licence. If there is a successful conviction then we could also apply to revoke the licence to operate the  business  from providing any massages or saunas.

Quite!    It's quite amusing that they named it "Sauna" immediately raising suspicion. They should have called it "Kebab shop" and nobody would have turned a hair!

The problem is not it is a Souna. What is worried us it is closed all the time. We do not know that is a real Sauna. I wanted to come there and see what it is and talk to the owner because I have some related product, but I have never got the access there. The door is shot all the time.

"Police have now informed us that they attended the premises on 17th February 2010 and found evidence that it was being used as a brothel.On 15th July 2010 officers again attended the venue and gathered substantial evidence that sexual services were being offered to customers."Good to see the boys in blue doing a complete investigation over 5 months to gather substantial evidence  ;-)

See the story on the front page. "EalingToday.co.uk was asked not to report on it whilst investigations were underway in case of any potential court case." What utter nonsense. All journalists are trained to know what might be prejudicial in a court case. If we never reported on stories that might end in a court case there would be nothing in the newspapers / bulletins. Do not let the police bully you !
