Strange new pavement art in Hanwell

Has anyone wlse noticed the "Gryphon" like engravings on the pavements??? Rather cute - it's like entering Hogwarts! Do they have any significance like the dragona separating the City of London and Westminster I wonder??

The Phoenix rising from the ashes and motto "Nec Aspera Terrent" is the traditional blazer badge of Drayton Manor School. Believe identical or similar to to the prewar Hanwell Urban Council although the school interpretation has been toned down from "Difficulties be Damned"!

I think its a Griffen/Gryphen rather than a hoenix. Now not sure. Will go look again. I saw it at the bottom of the hill walking up ftom the Hospital and again at the traffic lights nweaer the Gym/Church.
