Counselling

I am searching for ideas where I might find an appropriate counsellor for my fifteen year old daughter. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Lucian...you don't give much away as to what the problem is. My immediate thoughts are go to your GP, School, Council, Citizens advice, Local Church, if you work for a large organisation then speak to someone from occupational health, internet research etc.....

Orhttp://www.bap-psychotherapy.org/content.jspwho are one of the most respectable organisations. They would be able to give pointers.Unless the issue is serious the NHS start off generally (vie your doctor) with 6 weeks counselling once per week. Not really very much.You may or you may not be asked if you want to attend one of the sessions. That can be revealing.

One good source is: www.bps.org.uk (British Psychological Society) Any psychologist should be a member of this Society.  If not, then question them why not. You can also try this link to find counselors who specialise in the various areas of therapy and by location. www.counselling-directory.org.uk

Due to the age of your child - be sure that any counselor has a certificate to work with children.
