Getting people back to work and off benefits.

Can anyone see the point in hauling schizophrenics into work focused interviews. I know of one person being told it is the new government policy. What sort of company would take on a person with severe mental health problems. It is a waste of public money, the staff at the job centre should be worried about interviewing such a person,because such a person could attack in an instant, without reason.

Ah sounds like a John Major initiative. Makes us think that the government is doing something but costs nothing as we will have forgotten about it within 3 weeks when the next announcement comes out in the Daily Mail

Many people are on benefits who are perfectly fit for work...seen it all my working life.Surely much of the blame lies with the doctors who "sign them off".The doctors should carry out thorough medical checks and not just rely on the claims and excuses made by the workshy patients.It's time for us to stop subsidising these scrounging layabouts....

Problem is that those keener people who answer optimistically get their benefits cut and the scroungers carry on because it is harder work to get the real culprits

If a doctor does his job properly and establishes the true status of the claimants "illness" surely the scroungers would not be able to claim benefits and they should be delcared fit for work.This would weed out the genuime claimants....simples !!!

Unfortunately the jobs that they would consider interesting and well enough paid usually go to people with a good work history.

It is a fact hat at any point in time a certain portion of the population is actually going to be ill and/or disabled. We cannot avoid that. What is C-squared (Cameron and Clegg) trying to do? Force those that are too ill to handle the interviews off benefits and into total poverty so that they die or kill themselves in despair hence saving on benefits.This is not America (Thank God) where the economically inactive are culled as part of natural selection. This whole policy just stinks!

It is not true that because someone is suffering from a mental illness that they could attack without reason in an instant.  This is a very ignorant remark and very hurtful to anyone who is suffering from mental illness.
