what are the police swopping?

cruising through south ealing this afternoon i saw billboard placards outside three different newsagents for the ealing gazette. each placard proudly proclaimed in three inch high letters: "police swop in raid on car garage". i assume that the gazette meant "swoop".anyway, it made me laugh.

I guess that goes along with the quality of the subbing in the paper itself which is often worse than 'The Grauniad' (sic) in the 80's.
