New Gym in West Ealing

For those of you curious to finally see some development work going on at the boarded up Daniels site there is going to be a new low cost gym moving into (some?) of this space.  No idea on timescales yet.

A swimming pool is rather unlikely, I think.  The gym is planned to be on just the mezzanine level of the building.  Ground floor will remain unoccupied until retail tenants can be found (I'm not holding my breath for Daniel honouring their pre-redevelopment promises to move back in!).  I heard that removal of the brown hoarding (after about 5 years) was a requirement of the planning agreement to permit the gym.

I think we are well served for public swimming pools in the area surely? Gurnell and Brentford Leisure Centre are OK. Private gyms are good too with Eden,Virgin and Golds.

I think we are served incredibly badly with swimming pools, Diane.  Gurnell and Brentford Leisure are fine if you have a car or a lot of time to spare for your swim.  Eden, Virgin and Golds are all private gyms and require membership.  Six months membership at Eden was £300 last time I enquired - pretty expensive if all you want is a swim.

I also think we are badly served. I think gurnell is the nearest public pool serving everyone in ealing, perivale, and hanwell. I've tried, many times to take children swimming on Sunday morning and have been turned away because the family pool was full up. Although I dont think the daniels site would be big enough for a decent size pool.

Fair enough Allison if you don't have a car and I do tend to take Paul (in the car) and for quite a long time too! Shame the private gyms doesn't do a tiered membership for those that do only want to swim.
