I understood the rate was 15p/min, but did not realise it was capped.(Like Arthur, I thought this could lead to responsible citizens being financially penalised - which is plain daft).I remain concerned about the concept/principle of a charge for such a call. I simply think it is wrong. There is nothing to limit any future increases in rates for such calls, is there?I recently reported a gas leak in a street in Ealing (topical, given the recent explosion in an Ealing home) from a mobile phone. Big mistake. The time taken to give the exact location (which was I thought the responsible thing to do) meant I had a bill of a couple of pounds for what was a 'freephone' number (but ONLY from a BT landline). I should have read the small print.I hope the same does not apply to this number.I do feel that this is part of the general trend of allowing private companies to make money from important public services (the taxpayer). Somehow, it just feels wrong to me.
