This development really is a classic. In an area 'zoned' for offices the Council has recently agreed to demolish the 18 storey Westel/TVU office block; and in its place to build a 21 storey tower block of private flats; and to build yet another hotel of 100 beds. A year ago we had no new hotels in the central Ealing area for 100 years or so. Now we have one new Travel Lodge built and opened and a Premier Inn just east of this being built and another new hotel in Bond Street which will open later this year. Even The Drayton Court by West Ealing Station has returned to its 1890s incarnation as a 27 bed hotel.As bizarre as this - but in a different way - in an area with 100,000s sq feet of empty office space just 600 metres away, A2Dominion seem to have a deal in principle just across the road from Westel/TVU to expand an existing 7 storey office site into a 17 storey office site!The whole situation 'rhymes' with the demolition of a multi-storey car park in central West Ealing and the building of a new multi-storey car park in central Southall.But the Frogmore (18 storey office demolish) and A2Dominion (expand from 7 to 17 storey office) developments are even more absurd as they are just 100 metres from each other.No wonder national government has yet to approve new statial plans for the whole of Ealing.
