That indeed was my point. The tale is from Boston where a trolley load is being taken through the 10 items or fewer checkout, The person behind the offender enquires of him, 'Did you go to Harvard and are enumerate, or to M.I.T and are illiterate?'.

It's the same in supermarkets here with regard to the '5 items or less' signs.When I point it out to staff(on an anorak wearing day!)they haven't a clue.Go into Starbucks(God forbid!),ask for a coffee and when the assistant says 'Do you want a regular coffee' say'No,just the once please'
