Black poles along top end of Argyle Road

Does anyone know what the black poles along the top end of Argyle Road are for?  Is there going to be Controlled parking along there

About time. Now they need to do bottom of end of South Ealing.People whinge but it has to be the way forward.

Why does it have to be the way forward?As a car driver who has been resident in the borough for over 30 years and since long before the start of the CPZ craze I see very little if any benefit in them.I started with an open mind, but many years of observation have led me to conclude that the CPZ is a great big waste of public money.  And we have to pay for the right to use them on an annual basis as well!IMO there is a reason why it is called the *PUBLIC* highway, and nimby-prone groups of residents wanting to reserve the right to be able to park right outside their own door at the expense of all other road users (including many other borough residents of course) should just get over it.

Whilst I would agree that the benefit of CPZ's is limited if there aren't any at all, there is huge benefit in getting a CPZ if you are the only area which doesn't have one and are getting all of the displaced parking. As such I am incredibly grateful that I will now be able to park in my road and that; Waitrose Staff, people who are going on holiday abroad via the Heathrow Express and people who work in Central London will now have to look for an alternative place to park.That said I don't understand why we have to have quite so many discrete parking zones - If we only had 2 or 3 zones we could deter out of borough residents but benefit those who live and work in Ealing by allowing them to park close to shops for example.

It all started in Central Ealing when a few well healed residents objected to folk parking in front of their houses when they had drives anyway. it naturally spreads and the displacement factor is what the council officers rely on in order the encourage spread. The council then vastly reduce the number of spaces in an area anyway and then prevent your visitors parking safely by giving them tickets.
