Refuse collection

My carefully sorted recyclable rubbish was collected today, two days later than expected this week. The collectors appeared to throw it all into one large truck thereby mixing it up. Previously of course it was divided on the spot. Was I mistaken or have we taken a step back.

Lynda, this has been mentioned by a number of residents. One can only hope that this is not happening, otherwise why are we bothering to spend time and effort to separate our household rubbish?Please can someone confirm that the new contractors will still be collecting our rubbish and sorting it out instead of just throwing everying in the dustbin lorry?

Lynda and Jean,I have raised this and other issues with Ealing Council already - please see "Refuse and Recycling 9 - 13 April & missed collections". As you can see for yourselves, the council's reply that followed my request of clarification was not very helpful and not at all "clear".  They tell us that different recycling will be collected in different trucks and yet in reality, at least at the moment, this is clearly not happening. Why does this administration find it so difficult to communicate with its residents and tell us what we need to know and do in a straightforward way?

I saw this happening myself this morning, the green boxes where just being emptied as is into a dustcart, the dustcart was divided into two sections with waste food going into one side and everything else into the other, so it appears there is no point anyone sorting it, pity they dont clear the fly til at the rose bed at the junction of Westcott Crescent and Alcott Close as it as been there stinking for over a month

I have just received an apology from Streetwatchers regarding the problems with the new contractors.I thought this bit would be of interest:Recyclng materials will be collected together and sent to Material Recycling Facility.This is a temporary measure to clear the backlog. Residents are asked to continue to put their recycling in the usual containers at the edge of their property.They didn't say INSIDE their boundery - but I will say it!
