Have you never done this before Gerry?High fat/carb food hung in trees is best.Suet balls are perfect.

Yes we've tried these items in the trees in our garden - but the pesky squirrels soon get them, leaving the poor birds to starve. I should buy some bird feeders.
Them squirrels are pesky little blighters indeed Gerry and most feeders are ineffective at repelling them.It's a bit messy but if you mix some veg. oil with hot chilli powder and paint it onto a suet ball the squirrels won't eat it.Birds are tolerant of the chilli but the squirrels react badly to it.You can also add a little oil/chilli powder to bird seed for a similar effect.It's a bit of a bind doing this but it does work.See the RNIB web site.
OK Keith, chilli we've got, powdered, dried and fresh Scotch Bonnets! I'll give them pesky squirrels a fright! Thanks.
Take 18'' of said elastic and tie it to your feeder.Tie that to a branch or washing line and watch the squirrels bungy up and down until they get sick of it and bugger off.Only works on a day without much wind.
