I told you so....

Sorry to say I told you so but what is going on with this place Shiraz?Perfect position but no-one other than a shisha place wants to make a go of it.Would be great for a trendy wine bar (I'll get ready for the pelters) rather than people tinkering with a business such as Shiraz or the previous debacle.

Take a look at the Tower Hamlets blogs where the authorities suspect that well over half of the businesses in Commercial Rd and Whitechapel road are completely unviable and are fronts for money laundering.They need to get serious about dealing with such stuff irrespective of the race, creed or culture. Then we may have a society better placed to look after those genuinely less fortunate

The signs are now down and the place has been gutted. Not sure if they're selling off the interior to try and recoup some money or if they're turning it into something else.Eatalians (the previous restaurant) was never that busy either, and from what I heard the place before that had the same issue.It would be good to split the restaurant and the smaller section into two separate businesses. Perhaps a sandwich/coffee place for the local university/residents, and something other than Italian as the restaurant next door.A wine bar would not be suitable, the sound of it would be far too loud for the residents above, which is something the have to consider.

Selina, the restaurant that used to be called Eatalian was not very successful - it closed. Before that it was called Oporto, a fine restaurant/cafe, run by two Portugese brothers, who operated the excellent restaurant and coffee house for quite a few years - a pity its gone. Its was a quality eatery and very popular - a credit to the neighbourhood.

It's definitely a shame that it keeps opening and closing as I am sure there must be a market for something.A nice coffee shop to rival Munson's??
