Hello everybodyI recently moved to Ealing, what is happening with the cinema?

A woeful long drawn out saga, basically nothing.If you use the forum search it will bring up all the threads about this debacle.BTW, a warm welcome to Ealing.

We're not holding our breath, Christine. If you're new to the area, then I recommend the Waterman's arts centre in Brentford -- the 65 bus stops outside.http://www.watermans.org.uk/Anyone been past the site lately? Is there any sign of building going on?

I was sent a sketch of how the new cinema/area was going to look, a few months back, and I presumed that it was all starting to go ahead. But I've seen no movement in there since. Does anyone know when Watermans is closing and where its going to? First I heard it was Brentford but since then I've heard its leaving the area?

Saga indeed, I wonder how long this is going to drag on without anything happening? It is an eyesore right in the centre of Ealing.Why did they knock the building down and just leave 1 wall standing? Madness!

Rumours about the Waterman's have been circulating for ages, Marie. I don't think any decisions have been made.

Although - unsurprisingly - I've not yet seen this in Ealing Council and Land Securities press releases, I believe that Empire, the current(?) owners of the site are based in Southern Ireland and that arrangements for the disposal of their assets have been referred to the courts there.This is likely to delay matters more and I've never really understood how the compulsory purchase order (CPO) would work in practice.  Do the Irish courts have to abide by a CPO even if more money could be obtained by a different sale?
