The highs and lows of Ealing Borough.

What are the most pleasant and desirable areas of Ealing and where are those not-so-good districts of our borough?  More importantly, which are the up'n-coming parts?  Has HS2 made a difference to property and house values in Ealing?

Do you mean Crossrail Gerry?According to some agents (always anxious for their commission) it has already had a positive effect on prices in Hanwell and west Ealing.I wouldn't class any parts as no-so-good and I resist labelling places as such as it does a disservice to the many good hard-working people who live in such 'branded' areas.

Its got to be Hanwell for me Churchfields ,Bunny Park the Viaduct the river Brent, walks along the canal what a beautiful part of London we live in

I'd forgotten some of the pleasant buildings near Bunny Park in Hanwell and the impressive views from around the Viaduct pub(also in Hanwell of the majestic Wharncliffe Viaduct -so commanding a view. Also there are some interesting houses around leafy Pithanger Lane and Castlebar way. Ealing does have some desireable areas.

When I worked in West Ealing and East Ealing some 40 years, I was able, in the course of my work, to travel around the many parts of Ealing.  At one stage I was house hunting and looked with envy at the many fine properties well above my price bracket.I just loved the sight of properties like the one below. What an  attractively designed and built exterior. But I wasn't going to fork out £30,000 for that! No way!!

"...But I wasn't going to fork out £30,000 for that! No way!!"Yes Jim, 40 years ago £30k would have been a lot to pay for that very desirable double fronted three storied late Victorian mansion, which might fetch circa £4m now. We live in strange times today.

It's sad when the very rich in the world take over a gem property in the Borough, enclave it with a dozen or so security guards to keep out the riff raff, initially pay Google Earth to blank out their plot (no longer the case), with one of the Mrs's gambling £1 million a day in town, and spending £7 million on some jewellery in Bond Street and denying the folk of Ealing the chance to see one of Osterley Park's lakes and ramble around the farmland area.Just give me a bell if you want to pop round!
