Any recommendations for Indian restaurants in the Northfields area.  It's been a while since we visited any.  We used to like to Raipur or is it Jaipur now.  Is it still as good?  Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know when the South Ealing Road to A4 junction will re-open

Its several days now since the junction of the South Ealing Road and the A4 has been closed due to gas leaks. The 65 bus has been on diversion.When will it re-open?The work done is extensive though obviously not permanent. Over a dozen epoxy patches have been applied to an 18 inch gas main in half-a-dozen excavations spanning the junction. The patches are not permanent so the question now is whether National Grid Transco is going to cover up the patched mains, or replace them now, or cover them up and replace them in the future?Anyway, the question is: when will the road junction re-open?Does anyone have any idea when?

Hanwell litter

This is from a poster on Facebook Hanwell Friends group and he asked me to post it here for him.Keith Freegard20 March at 09:46I picked 2 bags of litter today between Viaduct and Hanwell locks. At least 80% of the littered items are drinking related. All are tins of strong eastern european branded lagers - like Zubr; Tuskie;Walkizch;Debaum etc. the rest of litter is energy drinks, vodka and beer bottles plus snack food wraps, burger n chips , then smoking and drug related packs. So the 'target market' for any focussed behavior change is well-defined :-'Drinkers buying strong eastern EU branded lager from local shops who like to gather in parks and consume vast amounts of booze while smoking and eating fast food.'Oh and also members of this social group with very low respect for society and the environment ( most of them I guess). I also think there is some strange and twisted symbolism going on here, so that the very obvious pile of discarded cans is making a statement to the rest of the community. Maybe a sort of ' look at us, we can do what we like and do not accept your petty rules of living in a community'.... but I find it impossible to understand the minds of people who do this.Anyway - can the local council put some targetted effort into preventing the litter caused by this small group of offenders in our locality? maybe work with the shops who sell the drink n food? maybe offer incentives to get the blighters to pick up the littered drink cans? Maybe tour parks in evenings to indentify the drinking groups? Or maybe just allow those who pick up litter ( there ARE lots of us) to carry on sorting the symptons of this social disease.

Road Safety

!) Argyle Road jct Cleveland Rd. Can a raised zebra, camera be installed to prevent untold vehicles speeding around the roundabout & nearly hitting people & dogs, children etc???2) Scotch Common. Between Scotch Common & Cleveland Park are entrances. There should be an island or better still a zebra crossing to slow cars & allow pedestrian safety.Fet rid of the old vans dumped by the exit obscuring view of traffic & the cpach park early morningThey are proper safety issues

Warren Farm to QPR

This is disgraceful aquisition of public, green, open space, to get this gift, this favourable deal, I can only assume that Julien Bell, Leader of Ealing Council, is a ardent QPR supporter. A 200 year lease? A peppercorn rent? and yet the local MP (Labour of course) is not protesting but nor are any Ealing Councillors, Conservative or Labour. In the future Ealing will need this land for all sorts of things, hence the 200 year lease. What a pity that Ealing Council do not value it's wild-life, this would make a great nature reserve, perhaps a 200 year lease to the National Trust or Woodland Trust might be considered? Still if Queens Park Rangers come to Hanwell/Southall we shall certainly see some wild-life then.

Article 50 For the record, how our MPs voted

MPs voted to pass the Article 50 bill last night without two proposed House of Lords amendment. As the local media doesn't seem to be very interested in what our local parliamentary representatives did I thought it worth documenting hereHanding the Government a majority of 48, MPs voted down an amendment designed to protected the rights of EU nationals living in Europe by 335 to 287.They also scrapped a second amendment which would have given Parliament a “meaningful vote” on the final Brexit deal by 331 to 286, a majority of 45.Our local MPs Virendra Sharma (Ealing Southall) Dr Rupa Huq (Ealing Central and Acton) and Steve Pound (Ealing North) all voted against scrapping the two ammendments. I will also add that Ruth Cadbury (Brentford and Isleworth)also voted against scrapping the two ammendments. I mention her because if the Boundary Commission Review recommendations are followed the Northfield Ward of the Borough of Ealing will move from Virendra Sharma's Parliamentary Constituency of Ealing Southall to Ruth Cadbury's of Brentford and Isleworth.

Julien Road Thames Water lead water pipe replacement project

Julien Road in Northfields is being "re-piped" (is there such a word) as part of the Thames Water lead pipe replacement project. Does anyone know if this an Ealing-wide project as I would dearly love to have my road free of toxic lead water pipes?

March Joke (not Smile!) National Grid - (Not so) Responsible Business of the Year 2014

As I watched the National Gird van park up in the busy bus stop outside South Ealing Tube station I had to laugh.It was not a hearty laugh at the joke proper, it was at the joke that is National Grid. On the side of the van was a proud label."Responsible Bsuiness of the Year 2014". What was the gentleman from Nationa Grid doing that was so urgent it required him to block a bus stop and leave his warning lights flashing?It was to deliver notices (paperwork) to the all premises around the bus stop one by one. Plenty of free parking everywhere at mid-day around South Ealing, so why block the bus stop?Does anyone know what National Grid are about to do at South Ealing tube station that requires such urgent notices?Are they about to rip the road up in the yearly topical search for the all-too-evident gas leaks that they never seem to manage to fix for more than a few months?Is South Ealing about to be ripped up like the junction between the South Ealing Road and the A4 is being at the moment as we are subject to yet more gas main repairs that never quite seem to work?I almost don't want to know! Especial by a business that is so responsible that it blocks bus stops.Some photographs follow in the next post

ENERGY BOOST on Monday

Energy Therapists will be at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD on Monday, 13th March, between 11am and 1pm (last session 12.45).  The session takes about 15-20 minutes and I am sure that you will feel really good at the end of that time, with lots of vital energy to enable you to enjoy the rest of your week!  A number of therapists come in each month and give their services free.  The Vihara kindly allow us to use the hall at no charge so a donation is most welcome as this enables us to give all donations to the Vihara.These sessions are not related to any religion, everyone is welcome.
