Disabled parking outside your house

One of my neighbours had a disabled parking space outside their house on the road. Fair enough. The driver was disabled so was entitled to have the space. But now, it has been over 3 years since the man died and the widow doesnt drive so the space is just there. It is such a waste because no one else is allowed to park on that empty space in case they get fined. Why don't the council check every year to make sure that all the people who apply to have a disabled parking space outside their house are still entitled to it. I did mention it to the council but they were not intereted. So any suggestions because I see so many people trying to find space to park and have to go round and round.

North Ealing - have you lost your cat?

A gorgeous tabby started sleeping on my veranda earlier this week, and is still there this morning. I won't give too many details about the cat here but if you are missing a tabby (who seems very well-cared-for and is very friendly) - or know someone who is - please get in touch. It would be lovely if the cat could be home for Christmas.

Optician recommendation for cataract?

Can anyone recommend a local W.Ealing or Ealing optician / optometrist who is likely to be sympathetic to referral for NHS cataract surgery rather than simply saying "no chance - you'll have to wait until it gets worse" (because of PCT money-saving rationing causing disregard for NHS clinical guidelines including the fact that my vision is critical for my occupation)?

Collection of Large Item Rubbish

Hi folks,I've a few bits like an old TV, sofa, exercise bike and chair that I no longer want and caled Ealing Council to arrange a collection. They'll do it for £20 but the problem is the items must be outside the home and as I have a broken leg, this is not possible for me to do.I've had a look around Google etc., but cannot find a provate company that could do this without charging the earth - can anyone recommend anyone please ?Thanks, BR

Removing nail varnish from white trousers

Yesterday, I was putting on some red nail varnish and a splatter landed on my white trousers. I tried putting on some nail varnish remover on it and it has just made it worse and spread. I havent shown my mum yet otherwise she will go mad. Does anyone have any good tips on how to remove nail varnish. thanks

Man with a van needed

Hi, I need to move a 6ft sofa and armchair from W13 to SUnbury and then bring back a 90" sofa from Sunbury to W13. Does anyone know a reliable person with a large enough van who could help? Husband can't do it on his own so hiring a van isn't really an option. Thanks

ealing police station to move into WH Smiths

I caught the tail end of the local news last night that some stations will be moving into post offices. I now can't find a specific recent link to this, but is it true?having a quick search of "Ealing Polic station to close" brings up references from 2006 onwards. I could see it working by merging into council buildings, but not WH Smiths on the high street surely?

New Italian deli

I notice that one has opened in the Grove, grandly called Antonius of Apulia. Anyone been? Doesn't strike me as a site with much passing trade, something that drove the rather good restaurant on the corner out of business a few years ago.

Exercising artistic licence

Cooking is an art.  I am exercising artistic licence. I'm cooking coq au vin and I decided to looked up Delia, Michael Slater and even Hugh Fearnley-Whittingthingy like a good lad for thier individual recipes. I've decided to do the dish my own way.  Wish me luck. How do you cook coq au vin?

Women's only Gym in Ealing

To all the women out there, do you use the gym. Do you feel intimidated or do you get men staring non stop or trying to chat you up. I know lots of women out there who have had bad experiences at the gym and when they tried complaining, they werent taken seriously. The mangement's attitude is 'what is the big deal'. Why isnt there a gym only for women in Ealing. Last month, I joined up with a gym in the local area (I can't mention the name) and on my induction, the fitness instructor had his arm around me all the time. I just didnt know what to say to him. So when i complained to the manager, it was 'he normally does that, no one else complains'. Needless to say, i have now cancelled my membership but feel put off joining a gym again.

I'm missing at least 5x items that I am aware of and have just called Royal Mail, but apart from loggin with my local delivery office (Hanwell) there's not a lot more they can do.Just wanted to see if anyone else has same experiences ?Cheers!

christmas sales

This year, I have not bothered going to the sales. I did pop into next and marks and spencers and had a browse but everything in the sales was rubbish and left over stuff they couldnt sell and was still quite expensive. Don't waste your money in buying things you don't really need because like me, i usually end up taking it to the charity shop/
