Flaky broadband

I'm with Talk Talk and live in Northfields. Over the past couple of weeks, my router has frequently lost its ADSL connection (wireless connection to the router is fine), sometimes for hours at a time. It's now got to the stage that every morning I have to reboot my router.  I'm no telecoms expert but as far as I can tell the issue is with the broadband provider or local exchange. I called Talk Talk and they said they couldn't not help me troubleshoot the problen as I do not have a router which is supported by them.My question is: have any of you experienced similar difficulties recently? Thanks.

Cambridge Yard

Does anyone know when the Cambridge Yard flat development in Hanwell will be completed? It seems to have dragged on for some time now, must be pushing two years. I'm no architect but surely they could have come up with something more aesthetically appealing - it wouldn't look out of place at a hospital.

£5m on Southall Car park

5 million pounds for a car park when jobs are being lost and libraries are threatened with closure makes no sense. Southall is a heavily congested area already and the last thing it needs is more cars. Southall is very well connected through various bus routes which shoppers to the area can use thereby reducing congestion, helping the economy and the environment.If Ealing Council is determined to increase parking spaces surely it makes more sense to use what is available already. Why not increase the number of pay and display parking areas by doubling up on roads where there is residents parking only, as many of these spaces are free during the day while residents are working.But the Council also needs to take into account the rising petrol prices and if they continue to rise, how many people will be able to afford to drive in the future? Thereby making their car park redundant. As a resident of Southall and a tax payer, I strongly disagree with this decision and it is not what I want to see in Southall or how I want my money used.  I would rather see the Rangers who look after our parks and green spaces kept in employment and the businesses in Southall encouraged to keep their areas tidy so that rats are no longer a common sight, people educated about the health hazards of spitting and making the streets of Southall green again.These are the things that would make Southall a much better place in which to live and visit.

Empire Cinema

Our Council tried.  A resident tried with a petition.  One of our MPs tried and is trying again.  What's the latest excuse?  They're 'mobilising'.  Empire are building a cinema, not restaging the Normandy landings.Empire simply don't want to invest the money in building us a cinema, do they?I tried to find an email contact for this Ribbons character but failed so I used the email on the Empire website and complained about his behaviour and the lack of cinema.  That probably had them reaching for the delete button quicker than you could say IMAX but I do think we should mobilise ourselves and start protesting to Empire and Mr Ribbons about their total lack of activity and their apparent unwillingness to tell us the truth about their plans.Any suggestions?  I quite like the idea of flooding Ribbons' email inbox on a regular basis (which will drive his Executive Assistant nuts, if nothing else) but has anyone got more grown-up ideas?

Woman mugged on Picadilly line train - rush hour

Is it just me who thinks that this 'front page' (Acton W3) story is awful.  A woman is robbed on a rush hour train, people intervene yet still the scumbags escape - with her phone????  Am also going to post on ChiswickW4 and EalingW5 as this is a serious debate........have we become a spineless and selfish society, I'm alright jack cowards or..........? thoughts please...?

Stop the ticket touts!

If any forum members are fed up being ripped off when booking tickets for the theatre or for sporting events (highlighted on the Despatches programme Channel 4 last Thursday) you may be interested to know here is a link to an e-petition to try and put a stop of this practice!http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/5135Some of these Ticket Agents have been buying up lots of tickets (usually the best seats) and selling them at many times their face value.Whether the Government will do anything about it is another matter but at least we can try!

Act on Computers complete disappoinment

The screen of my notebook broke, so I decided to get it fixed by Act on Computers. Initially I was quoted around GBP 80. After a few days I received a text from them saying that fixing the screen would now be £120. I replied "Please only fix it if the quoted £120 will not be exceeded". After not hearing from Act on Computers for many days I popped into their shop and the had forgot to notify that the notebook was fixed and ready to be collected. To my disappointment the quote of £120 was all of the sudden a bill of £150, although I had clearly stated for the £120 not to be exceeded. I than got home, only to find out they deleted most of the programs. I than returned the notebook to be charged a further £50. What is even worse is that the screen broke after 2 weeks again, and despite the screen being under warranty Act on Computers refuse now to fix it again. WHAT A COMPLETE RIP OF! I am beyond disappointed. This shop is not to be recommended at all!

Hanwell Carnival - Social get together
