Nicely Done Greenford High's Bukayo Saka

Not an Arsenal fan but was pleased to see the performance the other night of Ealing born Bukayo Saka who attended Greenford High. One goal and two assists in a game against Eintracht Frankfurt. He has represented England through the age groups and I very much expect this won't be the last we see of him

Ealing LTN Commonplace

Bad news for those out there thinking that adding multiple entries on the council’s Commonplace LTN “consultation” website, either for or against, might sway the result one way or the other. They know who you are. It’s not just ANPR cameras watching you, it’s also their IT systems. Extract from Ealing Council’s Report for Action/Information, Item 14: COVID Emergency Low Traffic Neighbourhoods – Interim Assessment, item 3.1.1 :“.........there is a significant level of duplication, as many individuals have written multiple emails or added multiple entries on Commonplace.........The final reports intend to analyse the entries to account for this.”

It's surprising that this seemed to drop off the news for such a long time.  They started using this in Europe years ago.  Nicholas Beard drew my attention to it first of all some time ago on this website.You need to check the compatibility of your car again - although as I understand it - if it isn't compatible with this new fuel - it just means that petrol will cost you more rather than having to change your car.Another article:https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57585105

So Hounslow Planning department have reversed another of their own recommendations (along with the one that will probably result in the extinction of bowling at GP), opening the way for car park charging. The CIC will not tolerate any challenge to their wishes.Interesting to note that Gemini Park Solutions will not be paid a management fee. They must be very confident of making a bomb on fines ...

e-scooters are coming to Ealing

Whoopy do, can hardly wait. As with gaudy coloured hire bikes that are left anywhere, these little playthings will end up creating an eyesore and another trip hazard for residents. I was walking down Longfield Avenue last week when one of these scooters squeezed past me on a narrow pavement. The female rider couldn't have been any older than 15, no helmet and no prior warning she was coming. I've seen them on pavements, underground station platforms and occasionally on the road. I've seen them with two teenagers on one, parents with small children on them. Without enforcement, it's a no from me

Apparently the little twerp has increased his own PR budget to over £1m since he was elected in 2016. Whilst I realise there is a lot of work involved in making him look presentable and capable, can an increase of 50% be justified when he's been back cap in hand to the government for even more of our cash?

Are Ealing, Hounslow and TfL conspiring?

Most LTN streets and former streets as well as distributor and main roads have been installed with basic road monitoring cables. installed by A-T-R Ltd of York St W1.However the nature or indeed the instigator of this survey seems to be rather clouded and so far to glean any information requires a Freedom of Information enquiry.  Enquiries to both LBH and LBE have so far resulted in no response whatsoever.All the installations in both Ealing and Brentford were at the same time.  But several streets in remaining LTNs that have had steep increases in local traffic levels just trying to get in and out of their neighbourhoods have been omitted.But it all points to TfL, who also do not wish to discuss " matters of internal confidential and commercial nature". Rather odd.However what kind of survey results will clickers get?South ealing Road still has road works causing disruption, currently additional resurfacing adding to that.Swyncome Avenue remains closed with no sign of the roadworks that would render it impassable in both directions.Windmill Roads 1 week closure now has signs saying 8 weeks at both locations.Several small streets like Trent Ave have had road closed signs with minuscule works which would never require closure. ROAD CLOSED signs all over South Ealing placed where there are no closure and incorrect as it's only from 8pm but causing all manner to traffic to deviate unnecessarily.Areas where road works are causing excessive and extensive delays and exacerbated by LTN blockades not having them temporarily removed to allow even local resident access.Yet the very reason for the removal of LTN 21 was for that very problem.It's either monumental incompetence by Highways executives or is it a deliberate bit of gerrymandering to create a false picture and maximise traffic problems?Either way with all this created disruption, it's simply not going to make any survey have and credibility or valid illustration.So have these authorities, smarting from the backlash now resorting to subversive tactics and collusion?

Travellers arrive on Ealing Common 21 July

After all the problems associated with the travellers residing on the Warwick Road section of Ealing Common, we now have an even bigger problem.A group of about 25 caravans arrived sometime late on 21 July and have taken up residence on Ealing Common itself. In the space of less than 48 hours, there are now numerous mountains of rubbish on the Common, one of which (from a safe distance) appears to include tree boughs (presumably ripped from trees on the Common). They are also 'understandably' driving across the Common from their caravans to get to the road, with no regard for people sunbathing/playing on the Common.With all the legal hoops the council have to go through to move them on, they will undoubtedly be there for many weeks. Research suggests that these are the same travellers that 'blighted' Norwood Green for many months.

It's No Mow May

What a great idea - a bit too late for the excuse for some unfortunately - but we do need to think about how we look after the bees and other pollinating insects.  Growing plants that don't flower or lawns made out of plastic or concrete don't help much with the crisis faced by insects and wildlife.  Time to sow and grow something that the bees love.There's a lot more info here:https://www.plantlife.org.uk/everyflowercounts/
