Northfields Allotments

On behalf of the Northfields’ allotments committee and all our plotholders – We wanted to say a big THANK YOU for your support.In September 2016 we were told by Pathways, our landlord, that it intended to build on 10% of the allotments. But, this week, Pathways officially informed us that it will now NOT be building on Northfield allotments. We really couldn’t have done it without local residents’ support. Many of you signed our petition and donated to our fighting fund to pay for specialist legal and planning advice. You bought our cake, dressed up as vampires and hopefully enjoyed the mulled wine. The trustees saw you at our open days in your thousands and realised the allotments were valued. You helped the trustees change their minds and their decision to build on the allotments. It is a wonderful result. THANK YOU.Our summer open day is on Sunday 7th July - I do hope you’ll join us for tea and cake. Scam website: warning

An outfit called “nextdoor.co.uk” is trying to get people in Ealing to sign up and is sending letters directly to residents to drum up business. I got one of these letters yesterday morning. It appears to be signed by a neighbour – their name and the name of the street appear at the bottom of the letter. So I had a word with my neighbour. He said he had signed up to the website - but he had no idea that his name was being printed on hundreds of promotional letters being sent out to residents and was appalled when I showed him.Reports from other London boroughs suggest that nextdoor.co.uk is not what it seems and there are concerns about what is being done with the data they’re getting hold of.Beware, beware, beware.

My locality is suffering from Ealing Council's naglect.

The bouleward along the uxbridge road is now being used more often than ever before by heavy Transfer Vehicles and causing peroblems for the people who live and work in the area. The side Residential roads connecting with the Bouleward are levelled out with their side pavements and is now looked on as a Traffic T/Junction. Crossover from the south to the north side of the uxbridge road is a danger to our children running for boarding Public transport busses.I dont really think that the officials who are employed to protect the local community by regular visits to log and make a report of these problems.give a damm. They are aware of a whole list of issues that will turn, up and so rehearse a bundle of excuses to take no notice of what and why there is so much we don't like of our Politicians. I could only find  a small number of Older Councillors who I can respect for what they will do in times of need.

Decorating.for disabled

For the last year i have been slowly building up decorating supplies ready for the day i decorate, it's a personal jihad i have on not hitting council resources. As i'm almost there, what options are open to me if i wobble a lot because a dodgy polg gene, and terrified of killing myself?Also, how do i get rid of two epilepsy damaged armchairs, bed and cooker? without paying the high price being asked by the council? It's beyond my limited income.Does anyone Know where i can get a bed that is epilepsy proof? With phone, internet, water, and food prices going up ready for brixit my income is very limited.Why do i feel like a human body dumping point for asking? I have tried so, so hard not to ask.

Take a look at this consultation for those living in housing blocks and estates in LBE.Mobility scooters are tremendously important for many people for them to keep their independence.  These scooters need to be able to be stored safely and securely.There is a proposed policy document covering more than just the storage and use on which your views are invited. Please share the info with those who you feel will be affected - ie whether they currently use a mobility scooter or not.I understand that the policy is reviewed every few years.  There is a survey and an email for more info and help.Not much time left on this - it has been running since February and is live until 7 April.

Where has all the money gone? Mice to feed fat cats!

I am worried about all the money the council could have made but hasn't. Most are aware that the London Borough of Ealing owned the old YMCA for 6 years left it empty and made little if any profit from it when it was sold. How could this be?The Guardian said that a company Berkeley Group  has successfully persuaded planning authorities that it could not make a profit from its developments if it met affordable housing targets. Yet it raked in £2.9bn of profit in the last seven years. Who did LBE sell the old YMCA site to in 2018. Berkeley Group. In business you chose friends carefully. Mice don't regularly do business with cats. Yet I hear that LBE are to send a delegation of 6 mice to MIPIM (international property fair in Cannes) this spring. Oh and a clothing allowance. I bet to encourage the mice they are being paid for by the cats. Has all this intimacy got anything to do with uncollected planning gain money or community infrastructure levy. All those flats going up in West Ealing should be generating funds that might keep libraries afloat. I would urge mice not to go to Cannes and to start producing balanced books instead to shut up people like me.

What has happened to--------

I left Grosvenor Road in 1966, emigrating to Canada at 21years old.I now wonder what became of the White Hart Pub that was just across the Uxbridge Road, and the Wilkinsons that had a greengrocer stall there;and the rest of the Wilkinsons who had stalls at the Hole in the Wall ( which I believe was 'just around the corner' close to Sainsbury's ) and Stalls near Lido Rec/Park; most of whom lived in Shirley Gardens. One I remember well would have been Gloria Wilkinson, who would be a few years younger than I. We never dated, she must have intuitively known I was no catch.I remember reading when this site was Lammas something or the other that the Grosvenor Pub had changed hands and there was something back then on the Ealing Jazz Club that had the Rolling Stones playing Saturday night gigs, but got banned for causing fights  before I went there. I was there when Manfred Mann was the Saturday Night band. They had released one record I believe it was called "I'm Cock a Hoop" or something like it. I was not one for the girls I only really dated 2 girls and of those 2, I would like any information on Jacqueline Wiseman who in 1963 was 14 living on Oaklands Road with her parents and older sister and attending St. Josephs Catholic Grammar School for Girls ( which has also disappeared). The school was run by Nuns some of whom Jacqueline did not get along with and proudly got detention from them for her misbehaviour. Any info on any of the above would be appreciated.

Ealing town hall and the £350,000 pledge

Why on earth has Ealing Council committed itself to an indemnity clause that could see it pay up to £350,000 to developers Mastcraft if plans for the Town Hall to be turned into a hotel are stopped?Who sanctioned this clause?Why are the Council determined to push the proposed redevelopment through before the Charity Commission has made its findings on the status of the Victoria Hall?I asked Julian Bell just what financial benefit giving the Town Hall to Mastcraft would bring the people of Ealing. Needless to say he blathered on about ‘commercial sensitivity’. Apart from taking the upkeep of the building off taxpayers hands there is no gain to us, just a nice earner for Mastcraft.This is just the latest in a series of decisions that highlight how financially incompetent this Council is.

MURIEL DRINKWATER MURDER.

After 12 years of frustration regarding attempting to prove or disprove whether former Hammersmith, Putney and Fulham double child killer Harold Jones murdered 11 year-old Muriel Drinkwater in Swansea in 1946, there is now light at the end of the tunnel. In July 2018 I was informed by South Wales Police that for the sake of the people of South Wales and for the family of Muriel, forensic opportunities were being sought to link Jones to her murder or to clear him. Yesterday I was informed: "To reassure you, certain forensic work is being progressed to seek to determine if there is a forensic link between the Murder of Muriel and Harold Jones (or not).Frustratingly, this is a process that cannot be completed quickly.The timescales to complete this comparison are unknown but I hope to have an answer in the next 4-6 weeks."

A&E @ Ealing Saved?

I welcome this news - those guys saved my life a few years back when I had "huge internal bleeding".Good to see common sense.But....How much wasted in consultations and studies?How much LCCE work put on the back burner?How are they going to now invest to bring it kicking and screaming into this century?We need an A&E and need it located there - it needs INVESTMENT.(Oh.... and scrapping the ridiculous road layout on Boston Manor Road so ambulances can move up and down freely like they used to)

Council proposes draconian clampdown on car owners

Be very afraid if you need a car to go about your business in Ealing. Latest proposals from the lunatics in the Town Hall will see free stop and shop scrapped, radical increases in CPZ operation (which will affect visitors arriving by car), and a raft of other anti-car ideas. Of course this is all based on the presumption that everyone has a) the time to walk or cycle or take public transport for everything they do away from home; b) everyone lives within easy walking/cycling distance of shops and services and c) nobody needs to take small children and/or heavy shopping anywhere.No doubt it will please the mouth-foamers who view all car use as evil but this is going to kill a lot of small businesses in areas such as Northfields and simply make life impossible for a large number of people. How ironic that this is the same council so committed to easy access to things it wants to shut all the local libraries to which most people.....walk! Isn't it ironical that these miscreants are able to leave rubbish if and when they are removedwithout being fined whereas the next item on Ealing Today's news was advice of fines being raised to £150 for littering within Ealing.A cigarette butt draws a fine and a £30000 bill is picked up by the public to take awayTravellers rubbish.

Closing The North Circular and Thames Water

Is it a coincidence that Thames Water suddenly announce the need to close the North Circular a few days before their financial year end?They do their accounts up to 31 March so expense incurred will go in the current financial year which may give them some kind of tax advantage. There doesn't seem to have any actual burst of a main. If it was only a leak that needed repairing it could have been done over the Easter holidays when disruption would have been reduced.The same thing happened last year at the end of January.Could it be that these road closures are being timed for the benefit of shareholders rather than residents?/

I need to cut back some shrubs prior to having some fence work done.We have no garden access and it would save some of the cutting up needed to get branches through the house!Thanks!

In the dark?

Last night around 6:30 I drove between Blakesley Ave and the A40 in Perivale. I managed to avoid three cyclists ahead of me in different places, all without lights. Are they under the impression that we motorists have such good visual acuity to save then from collision? Unlit cyclists are a menace. BTW no unlit cars seen.
