New Emergency Unit for Ealing Hospital

Any comments? I made experience with this earlier this week, and was a bit surprised to be directed to a GP in the Urgent Care section  with my son's broken wrist.The leaflets they have by the counter explain the type of injury the urgent care centre deals with and which the old A & E, which you can see as you are whisked into the urgent care bit. A & E deals with life or death injuries.  But, don't you call an ambulance for those, which use a separate entrance anyway?So, it appears, old A&E is now redundant.

Phone call from someone offering to undercut my Sky repair contract. When he refused to send any details of the contract by post before I would disclose any financial details , I hung up. No call back tells me he was a con man. Agreed?

car broken into walpole park

Parked my car between walpole park and the tennis courts before work 1pm this afternoon (friday 8th july) and came back to it just now when i finished work and its been brokwen into. window smashed nothing stolen but uber pi**ed!Just wondering if anyone walked past a silver honda civic on the walpole park side of lammers park gardens and maybe saw anything. I know the beer fest is on at the moment so there would have been a lot of people going past.Any info would be good thanksStephen

Pavlo (Paul) Kulak - Rogue trader

I want to flag a rogue handyman/decorator operating in the Ealing/Hanwel/Perivale area that my fiancé and I have had trouble with recently.His name is Pavlo (Paul) Kulak and his wife (Mariela) often works with him. We had asked him to repair loose tiles around our bath and to replace a tiled cover for our boiler, both jobs relatively simple.The alarms bells started to ring when he completed the job in an unusually short space of time and then charged us a third more than he had originally quoted. The job seemed to have been done sufficiently so we accepted the extra cost and moved on.Two weeks later I noticed that the grouting around the bath tiles was coming off in chunks, and that the tiles actually moved when pressed lightly; now three months on they are all loose and coming away from the wall, and there are clearly signs of water damage underneath . Secondly, when the boiler cover was moved out for the annual service (as it was built to do) all of the tiles fell off the cover in one go! Clearly there is an issue with the type of fixative used on the tiles which was also probably not allowed to dry properly.Needless to say we contacted Paul who then reeled off a list of bad excuses, and claimed that we must have done something to cause the tiles to fall off! After much arguing Paul initially agreed to pay some money back but now has refused after chasing him on the phone for weeks.Sadly we have had to put this down to a bad experience but I want to let as many people know as possible not to use this guy to avoid the same thing happening again.Kirstie

Central Heating/Homecare recommendations please

We are currently with British Gas on their Homecare 400 plan but we are not happy with British Gas.We would like to have plan which covers Central Heating/Electrics & Plunbing and although there are various companies out there we have no idea which one to choose.Any ideas and comments would be most welcome. 'Bomb' scare on Hessel Rd

What was the outcome of the bomb scare?  Police partially closed off Hessel Road Saturday morning because someone had apparently dug up a WW2 bomb or shell in their back garden!

what a lovely area...

What happened to Ealing!    I have lived here all my life and I cant believe the things that are going on now Shootings,stabbings,assaults etc. I cant even understand the language anymore. I feel sorry for my grandchildren as this is all they will know of the area which was never that bad when I was growing up! People just dont care about anybody anymore there is no respect for anyone or anything.Yes I know it is not just Ealing that it is happening in and it is all over the country but it is making us an angry country.

Labour Library Defeat Shows that there is an Alternative

Last night the Labour council was comprehensively defeated over the library closure issue by its residents.  As a councillor that has been part of the fight to save Northfields library I thank every resident who signed every petition, sent every email and stood and supported our libraries. Labour last night tried to claim the plaudits for the u-turn but the reality these proposals should never have been brought forward and it now feels like a gross waste of time and money.  It also shows in simple terms that there is an alternative to the cuts mantra that the administration trot out ahead of every proposal to close services.  If you can save the libraries and still make the savings targets what else could be saved rather than cut?  What else could have been saved that has gone?  For me, this decision vindicates those like me who hold the view that the savings targets are in reality a tough but manageable proportion of the councils total expenditure. This is victory for the idea that the council can maintain services and still make it's sums add up.  The gloom and dispondency that currently surrounds the Labour administration should now be replaced with the conviction to protect services.  This will need strong administrative management of the council.  The library u-turn shows that where there is a will there is a way.  No longer will the Labour council be able to claim that there is no alternative to "the cuts".
