Stop throwing bread on our roof!
The phantom bread thrower of Northfields has been throwing piles of white sliced bread on the green roof of our shed and, this morning, on our neighbour's shed roof too. Maybe they see the birds eating the breadcrumbs we sometimes leave on our roof and think that they'd like to feed the birds too. However, much of the bread is mouldy (which can kill some birds), and the big dry lumps of bread don't seem to appeal to anyone (it isn't birds that have been removing it, but us...).The bread also covers up some of the many delicate, little plants we have growing on the roof (and it's a harsh enough environment as it is), so please stop it... (We put our breadcrumbs on the few grass bits we leave on the roof for stepping on).The first time we saw it, we mistakenly thought it might be the foxes (although they are not keen bread eaters, there was a plastic bag involved, and we thought they might have found it and been disturbed, and so brought it to our roof to investigate), but as our neighbour noticed that his roof was bread free at 7.30 this morning, and was covered by 8.10, I think we can definitely rule out any foxy involvement (other than, of course, those involved in the clean up....).So, whoever you are, stop throwing bags of stale bread on our roofs. If you really want to feed the birds, put bread crumbs in your own garden or take it to the park and feed the birds there :^(
