Chaperone/travel assistant needed  for 11-year-old Schoolchild

We are looking for a chaperone for an eleven-year-old boy who needs to get from Ealing to Slough and back during term time.  If the chaperone is able to drive then the trip would take max 2 hours.  If using public transport, 3. The child has to arrive at Slough at 8am and leave at 3pm. The job would ideally suit a young person looking for casual work because the care skills needed are not particularly high given the age of the child.  If you have a young person in their gap year looking for work, for example, this could be a good arrangement.  If they are only free during one half of the day or would only want to do the job from time to time, this is not a problem.

Celebrating 50 years of Motown

New project for children age 5-18, Descendants are working towards a show celebrating Motown.  If you like to dance like Michael Jackson, sing like Diana Ross, just enjoy music! then this project is for you! Growing your own - Is it always better?

This year I have started to grow some veg/fruit for the first time.  I had 3 tomato plants given to me and have spent all summer nurturing the plants and giving them gallons of water.  I picked the tomatoes green and placed them on a sunny window ledge and today I had my first one in a mozzarella salad with my own grown basil - and you know what the tomatoes tasted of precisely nothing! No flavour at all, nada!  What a waste!!!

Dinner party catering

It's my 50th at the end of October and want to throw a dinner party for 8 close friends. I don't want to cook it myself though because I want people to enjoy it. Has anyone used any at home caterers? What dod you think? Trying to weigh up eating at home or taking them all to a restaurant.

Long -haired ginger male cat missing - W13

At the risk of being ridiculed, my beautiful ginger cat went missing from our home in Mervyn Road last week (Monday). He's quite large, very long hair, very lion-like and very friendly. He was wearing  a red collar and a bell when he went missing. I have a photo if anyone thinks they may have seen him.I'll pm them. Thanks.......I am very, very upset. He was so gorgeous.

HEALING IN CHISWICK

The coming Monday is the second Monday of the month therefore healers will be at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD between 11am and 1pm ready to welcome and give healing to anyone who turns up.  Healing helps any condition, through from stress to physical illness.  The healing takes about 20 minutes.  No charge is made for healing (all the healers are working on a voluntary basis) however, a donation is most welcome - all donations are given to the Vihara).No appointment is necessary, waiting time, if any, is 5-10 minutes.  For any further information please ring CHRIS on 07961 378 896.

NTFL. No Transport For Lord's.

I want Boris to get TFL sorted because yesterday for the second time running there was no Jubilee Line to get me to Lords. The previous time a TFL employee misdirected me to another station instead of onto the replacement bus. So, once bitten, this time I looked on the web. TFL said there was a partial suspension and there were replacement buses on two sections which I did not need to use. There was no warning at Perivale nor East Acton entrances nor any announcement at Bond Street to say you could not get onto the Jubilee Line from the Central. Exiting from Bakerloo at Baker Street one was not directed to the buses but told to walk. It should be NTFL. No Transport For Lord's.BTW England were rubbish and I left early :-(

helphave old ( much adored mum) in Scotland. Want her near. House in scotland not same value as Ealing. How do I get her near me to help her. She cant afford like for like swap, Scotland palace....... here shoe box). Dont know where to find a place must do it now, 89y bit iffy. Any similar experiences much appreciated.

Perivale traffic calming

I have not heard other Perivale residents here but if any are lurking, please post your thoughts on the Council's plans for a 20 mph zone policed by sleeping policemen only. I am appalled. The consultation is wanting us to back this ridiculous plan. It is supposed to encourage cycling.....with speed bumps? The consultation has gone to households not individuals. Is this the precursor of household voting in elections?When I was a councillor it was said that no-one wanted speed bumps except the residents in the roads where they were introduced. Well, this resident does not want them in his road nor all over Perivale.By the way, they are not environmentally friendly.
